The Debate Framework for Landing Pages
Understanding the mechanism of a landing page as a debate
In a debate, you are trying to convince the other person about the validity of your ideas. Exactly what happens on landing pages. This is why the debate format can be used to create an effective landing page.
Below is how you can use a very basic debate format as a framework for a landing page 👇
→ Proposition - H1
Make a (genuine) claim about your product or business.
Example: Grow your revenue by 3X
→ The Opening - Subtitle
Summarize the reasons for why your claim is true.
Example: The product helps reduce friction for customers to convert, etc.
→ Argument 1 - Section 1
State the most obvious argument for your claim.
Example: Describe the mechanisms of how your product works to reduce friction. Making it obvious to the reader.
(Add as many sections here as the number of main arguments you have.)
→ Argument n/n - Section n/n
State the next most important of all the arguments.
Example: Another idea (saves time, effort, etc.) to support the proposition.
→ Argument by Statistics - Case studies + Testimonials:
Show them real-life data points and receipts from other users.
Example: How a customer reduced friction using the product to win deals
→ Rebuttals - Objection Handling
Answer objections, cons, market questions.
Example: An FAQ section that clarifies product limitations.
This is a basic and simplistic framework to build an effective landing page without reading much theory. You can add more sections if need be.
There are many other frameworks for creating a landing page which you can use. However, since the fundamental purpose of a landing page is to communicate a specific value proposition or convince an audience about a particular objective, the principles behind this framework are mostly applicable for messaging and copywriting while using any framework or freestyle landing page creation.
Hope this was helpful.
